GNREGISTRY ID:  BGN00002A - Richard Suddick

E-MAIL:  rsuddick@satx.rr.com

CLASS:  Modified Show Car

PART A - OWNERSHIP:  I bought BGN00002A new on December 10, 1987 from Spires-Douglas Buick in San Antonio, Texas. The day I took it home, it had 5 miles on the odometer. My odometer today (9/16/2004) reads 2643 miles. However, these twenty-six hundred miles are recorded on an electronic odometer that is part of a custom, upgraded instrument package from Performance Instruments (see details below under modifications). The original odometer read 90,255 miles at the time this replacement was installed by Cavendar Buick in San Antonio about five years ago. (I still have the original Buick instrument pod showing this mileage.) Thus, the total current (9/16/2004) mileage is 92,898 miles.

PART B -MOTOR:  The motor is the original one with many modifications all done professionally by a Turbo Buick expert, and Master Mechanic, Roy Caeo, at Cavendar Buick. All receipts for labor for installation of below items are available at Cavendar Buick. The engine was modified to develop a much higher level of street performance without affecting overall drivability. Here is a list of the modifications:

1) ATR's driver's side stainless steel header and cross-over pipe, both ceramic coated; stock (stainless steel passenger side header is ceramic coated).
2) ATR's 3" SS down-pipe with external waste-gate.
3) ATR's 3" SS cat-back dual exhaust system.
4) Iron CNC ported heads by Champion with their largest available stainless steel valves.
5) ATR's modified matched stock ported intake manifold, with EGR tower removed.
6) 42.5 lb injectors (009’s) with Casper's custom injector harness and fuel pump hotwire kit.
7) Walbro 307 fuel pump.
8) ATR’s billet adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
9) Casper's Volt Booster, 3-Bar MAP Sensor and loom for TurboLink boost sensing feature.
10) Jay Jackson's 62 mm ported & polished Throttle Body.
11) Three inch cast aluminum, black powder-coated up-pipe.
12) LTI MAF and MAF Translator from Ram Chargers; three and one-half inch black powder coated intake air pipe along with a very low restriction, “Big-Mouth” 17-inch air filter canister.
13) Custom made, massive (22 row) stock location all aluminum intercooler Fitted with a custom aluminum scoop under the front bumper.
14) Performance Instruments’ GNX+ Instrument Panel, customized further with a faux carbon fiber instrument gauge backing panel; instruments include a VDO electronic speedometer, a three inch tachometer, a 30 psi boost gage, oil pressure gauge, plus volt meter, fuel level, fuel pressure, and engine temp gauges.
15)Ram Chargers’ (Bob Bailey) custom PROM chip, designed to maximize power output from all of the above.

PART C - TRANNY:  The transmission and rear end are original stock. All running gear has had regular service and functions perfectly.

PART D - SUSPENSION:  Suspension upgrades include:
1) All four upper and lower control arms with 1LE bushings.
2) Front and rear Bilstein shocks.
3) Eibach Pro Kit, Rally performance level coil springs front and rear, powder coated gun metal gray (this lowered car  approximately 0.75 inches).
4) Energy Suspension's complete front end rebuild kit with all poly-graphite bushings.
5) Praise-Dyno Kevlar Brake's front pads, stock rotors.
6) Buick aluminum rear brake drums with extended "soft" shoes.
7) Buick aluminum bumper supports added.
8) All the Kirban body and frame bracing kits added.
9) GNX wheels (Pontiac Black GTA’s) from Classic Industries with custom Buick Tri-shield center caps.
10) Four BFG Comp TA, Z-rated tires, 245/50/16, now with about three thousand miles an them.

PART E - BODY & PAINT: The exterior was painted at Gunn Buick’s Body Shop in 1997, at a cost of approximately $3000, and is in beautiful condition today. The interior is immaculate with one relatively minor wear place on the carpet next to the gas pedal where the throttle foot rests. Trim areas have been upgraded in a tasteful manner with specialty items from Buick- from-Hell.

PART F - PERFORMANCE:  BGN00002A is very fast but has never been raced on the track.

PART G - OTHER:  This is probably one of a very, very few Grand Nationals or Turbo Buicks that were made from 1984 through 1987, in which a complete documented history of maintenance and mechanical work receipts from a Buick Dealer exists from 1987 through the present. This history is maintained at Cavendar Buick, San Antonio, TX. Cavendar bought this Buick Dealership from an intermediary owner, Gunn Buick (who painted the car), who in turn had bought it from Spires-Douglas Buick (the original dealer). The original Dealer Badge from Spire-Douglas is still on the trunk lid. The changes in ownership of this Buick dealership are included in all computer records of customer vehicles of each successive dealer retained at Cavendar Buick today. About 84,000 of the current ~93,000 miles were put on the car before 1997, while it served as my daily drive-to-work vehicle (and I loved that twice - daily commute because of that).  BGN00002A has always been garaged.
